About Family CHOLLET-HORNETT-MEIK
Please sign in to see more. Our family CHOLLET with citizenship of Maracon/Switzerland goes back to Mermetus CHOLLET born about 1390 ( see our website http://genealogy.chollet.ch ).
One of our ancestors, Samuel CHOLLET, born in 1732 in Moudon/Switzerland, emigrated to London/England and became british citizen in 1763. He became associated with the french Huguenot James BOURDIEU in the merchant-banker firm BOURDIEU & CHOLLET. He died in London in 1802.
For their business, Samuel CHOLLET sent his nephew Samuel Pierre David CHOLLET (born in 1748 in Moudon/Switzerland) to Charleston/South Carolina and his son James CHOLLET (born in 1754 in London/England) to Calcutta/East Indies where he died in 1783.
Samuel Pierre David CHOLLET was banished from Charleston in 1777 and went to the Caribbean where he was Commissary General of His Majesty George III on Barbados, then Custom Collector of His Majesty on Trinidad where he died in 1814. His natural son Nelson CHOLLET is at the origin of the Caribbean (+ Costa Rica and Nicaragua) CHOLLETTE via his son George born on Grenada in 1844 and deceased on Grand Cayman in 1916 (see http://gw.geneanet.org/cholletcar ).
The descendants of James CHOLLET are presented here and concern mainly the families HORNETT and MEIK.
